Three Essential Tips when Buying a Television

Today, buy a television can be an overwhelming task. It is important to know some things before you fall in love with a few options. You need to understand marketing terms which are usually printed on the box to try to get you to buy certain brands. Armed with some knowledge of what exactly to get, you would be able to purchase the right set. Below are some of the things you should know before you start shopping for a television:

In terms of TV size, you should consider if you are looking to get your TV mounted on the wall using a PrimeCables TV wall mount. You can also choose the biggest one and ignore other features. Either of these may make you regret later. Choosing the right size is often tricky so it makes sense to measure in advance to make sure you get a TV that is not too much for or too small for the space. Also, take into account how far away you will be viewing your TV.

Be Aware of the Kinds of Display you can Choose From

Below are common display types you can find the in the market these days:

  • Liquid crystal display (LCD) TV. Typically, this TV is less expensive than other types. But, this is not an ideal choice for a crowd since it has limited viewing angles. You could get a TV like this for a bedroom.
  • Plasma TV. This is a perfect TV for a dark room due to its wide viewing angle and high contrast. But, this television can suffer from glare problems in a normal living room that has windows and other sources of light.
  • Light Emitting Diode (LED) TV. This TV is available at various prices and sizes. Typically, it is pricier than LCD and Plasma.
  • Organic Light Emitting Diodes (OLED) TV. This TV is the combination of the best qualities of LED and Plasma televisions. They do well in brighter rooms have high contrast ratios and nice dark blacks, making good cinematic visuals. Also, they are very thin. All these features and qualities come at a price so expect to pay more for these.

Think about Picture Resolution

The resolution of a TV is the number of pixels which make its picture. When there is more pixel, the resolution will be finer and the picture crisper. Also, your image is just as great as the content to be watched on it. Stick to 1080p or the High-Definition type or a 4K TV for Ultra High Definition. The later has four times as many pixels as 1080p.  In fact, there is the new 4K option called High Dynamic Range which promises more cinematic experience and realistic colors.

Ensure the TV Has Enough Inputs

When buying a TV< choose one with enough inputs for things you would want to connect to it. Today, DisplayPot and HDMI inputs are the standards for pretty much everything, from computers to Blu-Ray players to gaming consoles and cable boxes. Ensure you have an analog port if you are looking to connect an old VCR or DVD player.

Check the tech specifications to ensure you have the inputs you need before buying. Older TV models commonly have one or two HDMI ports so if you have many to connect find at least three.
